Billy E. Staggs, Sr., 78, of Lexington, KY passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Mayfair Manor in Lexington. Born October 6, 1936 in Huntsville, AL to the late Gerald and Jewell Webb Staggs, he was the widower of the late Mary Lois Staggs. He was a graduate of KY School for the Deaf, a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, and a member of Crosswoods Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY. Survivors include his wife of 33 years; Peggy Doan Staggs of Lexington, KY, one son; Billy Staggs, Jr. of Lexington, KY, one daughter; Patty Hill (Greg) of West Chester, OH, two brothers; Jim Staggs of Lexington, KY, and Bobby Staggs of Lakeland, FL, one sister; Sheila Combs (Terry) of Nicholasville, KY, one grandchild; Jackson Hill of West Chester, OH, two special friends; Kathy Estepp of Lexington, KY, and Anita Bruce of Versailles, KY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Gerald and Jerry Staggs, and one sister; Shirley "Cheryl" O'Banion. Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4-6pm at Crosswoods Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY. Funeral service will begin at 6pm at the church. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Memorials in lieu flowers may be given to Crosswoods Baptist Church Building Fund (4991 Harrodsburg Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356). Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford is in charge of the arrangements.
