Charles Bender

–

Hustonville, Kentucky

Charles Gregory “Chuck” Bender, aged 48, of New Salem, passed away unexpectedly at home after a brief illness on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

Chuck was born July 8, 1976 to the late Charles “Big Chuck” Regis and Linda Sue Bender in Baltimore, Maryland.

Chuck was the widower of the late Amy Lynn Davis Bender, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2005. He was the father of Chance and Connor Bender, and Kaylee Haste.

Chuck was a man of many pursuits including being an accomplished sportsman, outdoorsman, gentleman farmer, expert welder and fabricator, and is one of the hardest working men you’d ever meet.

For the past sixteen years he was the Owner-Operator of “Chuck Bender Gates” affectionately called “Gateman” by his customers. Chuck had an indelible impact on the thousands of customers, mostly farmers and ranchers, the men and women who make this country work, with whom he bartered these past sixteen years.

Chuck will also be remembered for keeping up the family farm and being a “good steward” of the land as the Bible calls them, a book which he revered, as a Christian and a practitioner of the Baptist faith.

Chuck is survived by his children, his four siblings: Sherry (David) Noss of West Virginia, Lori (Ron) Pike of Danville, Lana (Clay) Campbell, Eric (Lindsey) Bender of Liberty. Many nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn his passing.

A one-day service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
