Deven Dees

Deven James Lee Dees, 19, of Jefferson City, TN (formerly of Mt. Vernon, KY) passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born on July 7, 2006 in Somerset, KY to Annette Rhoades and Billy Joe Dees.

Deven was known for his adventurous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his zest for life. He loved riding four-wheelers, shooting guns, and spending time with his beloved family. His connection with his sister, Deseray, was something special; they were not just siblings, but best friends. His most cherished role, however, was that of a father. He adored his daughter more than life itself and his love for her was a testament to his warm and loving personality.

Despite his untimely passing, Deven’s legacy continues to live on. He was an organ donor, a decision that demonstrates his selfless spirit and his desire to help others even in death. His generous gift has saved five lives and has helped seven others, a testament to the kind of person he was. Deven’s life and his selfless act will continue to echo in the hearts of those he touched and those he saved.

Survivors include daughter, Wrnylee Dees; his mother, Annette Rhoades of Stanford, KY, father, Billy Joe Dees of Mt. Vernon; three siblings, Deseray Dees, Destiney Rhoades and Dylan Rhoades; maternal grandparents, Pamela Smith (John Coleman ) of Stanford and Kenny Holt of Stanford; paternal grandmother, Jeanette Thomas (Danny) of Tennessee; "Nana", Linda Sockwell; three special cousins, Adrian “Budder” Dees (who was like a brother), Andrea Dees and Rennee Dees.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Billy Ray Dees.

A one-day service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
