Dion Payton

Dion Payton, 30, of New Salem, KY passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born on November 10, 1995 in Danville to Kyla Earles and Tim Payton.

Dion worked at Dana Incorporated as a Process Engineer. He enjoyed wrestling, football, fishing, and music. He especially loved playing the guitar, writing music, and sitting around a bonfire playing guitar for family and friends. Above all else, his children were his life, and nothing meant more to him than being their dad. He will be remembered for his love of music, the many good times shared with those around him, and most of all, for the love he had for his children.

Survivors include his mother, Kyla Earles (Max Scott); father, Tim Payton; three children, Carter Jackson, Krysta Adelyn and Axel Reigns Payton; maternal grandparents, Steve and Joan Earles; and five other siblings, Cody Roberts, Kayla Roberts, Jonas Johnson, Bryan Payton and Zach Roberts.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Travis Payton; and paternal grandparents, Alice and Charles Payton.

A one-day service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Hustonville, KY.
