Donald Reynolds

–

Wilmore, Kentucky

Donald L. Reynolds, 79, of Wilmore, KY passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026 during a stay at Cardinal Hill hospital after a hard fought battle with several illnesses. Born on May 16, 1947 in Kings Mountain, KY to the late James Reynolds and the late Helen Houp Reynolds. Don is the widower to the late Judy Carol Hill Reynolds.

Don or “Big Daddy” as he was known to many, was a man of many talents and hobbies. He was the co-owner of several businesses, an electro-plating plant, an auto repair shop and a family restaurant throughout his lifetime. Don loved antique cars and classic hot rods and restored several, and enjoyed attending cars shows and rod runs. In his later years, he spent a lot of time at the home he’d built and lived in over 40 yrs where he fostered his passion for mowing and tinkering. Don rarely saw a broken thing he didn’t think he could fix or didn’t try, object or person. He loved being outside riding his tractor and taking in the view of his backyard. Don collected friends who he came to think of and love like family. He opened his home and his heart to many over the years and there are definitely those who can claim the impact his life had on theirs. He will be deeply missed, but leaves a legacy filled with “wisdom and knowledge” that will continue on.

Survivors include five children, Lorra Graham (Drew) of Winchester, KY, Jeffrey Frye of Lexington, KY, Donald “Donnie” Reynolds of Richmond, KY, Richard Wade Frye of Versailles, KY and Donna Reynolds Buckles (Jimmy) of Wilmore, KY; and T.J. McDuffey who he considered his bonus son; one brother, Kenneth Barry Reynolds; six grandchildren, Benny Mosher, William Reynolds, Tiffany Messer, Tabitha Foree, Bethany Morton and Drew Graham; several great-grandchildren; special nephew, David Tincher and several more nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends who he considered family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Carol Reynolds; parents, James and Helen Reynolds; and one brother, Larry Reynolds.

A one-day service will be held on Saturday October 3 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 12 pm to 3 pm. Please join us to share laughter and memories with one another of a life well lived and the love shared. The funeral service will follow at 3 pm with dear friend Pastor Buddy Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, KY.

Don loved classic cars, hot rods, and muscle cars, if you’d like to drive yours to the service to honor him with one last “ride” to his final resting place, we’d think that was fantastic, and are pretty certain, Don would too.

Active Pallbearers are Donald "Donnie" Reynolds, David Tincher, R. Wade Frye, Jimmy Buckles and Billy Houp.
