Gabriel U. Gabriel Obituary (1930 - 2023)

Gabriel U. Gabriel, 92, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born on April 16, 1930 in Stanford to the late Philip and Mary Michelango Gabriel. He was the widower to the late Margaret Taulbee Gabriel. He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Gabriel is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving 8 years. He was a Naval Aviator, he had logged just shy of 2,000 hours. He then graduated from University of Kentucky, where he majored in Chemistry and minored in Agriculture. He was a teacher at Garrard County High School for many years and later served as the Principal of Garrard Vocational School before his retirement. After his retirement from teaching, he spent most of his time working on the family farm. Survivors include two sons, Philip Gabriel (Rhonda) of Stanford and Chuck Coulter (Cherri) of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren, John A. Coulter (Megan), Carson Coulter, Gabbie DelCastillo (Dario), Michael Hatter (Olga), Raven Aton (Joe) and Brenda Hatter; three great-grandchildren, Lyndy Coulter, Charlotte Coulter and Ison Hatter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Gabriel; parents, Philip and Mary Gabriel; and one son, George Gabriel. Visitation will be on Monday, January 9, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.at Saints Paul & Peter Catholic Church in Danville, KY with Father Jim Sichko officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Full Military Honors will be presented by Caswell-Saufley Post 18 Active Pallbearers are John Austin Coulter, Carson Coulter, Joe Aton, Michael Hatter, Dario DelCastillo and Mike Taylor.
