Homer Jennings Smith Jr. Obituary (1963 - 2016)

Homer Smith, Jr., 53, of Waynesburg, KY passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at home. Born January 29, 1963 in Lancaster, KY to the late Homer Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Smith, he worked as a self-employed contractor for most of his life, and was the owner/operator of Ottenheim Raceway. He was also a member of Stanford Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 10 years; Christy Sulfridge Smith of Waynesburg, KY, one son; Jeremy Smith (Amanda) of Elkton, Maryland, one daughter; Bethany Smith of Waynesburg, KY, one brother; Gary Bush (Janice), two sisters; Mary Belle Lasure (Manles), and Fran Banks all of Stanford, KY, one grandson; Jacob Lee Smith, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 5-9pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the funeral home with Reverend Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to Heritage Hospice (P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422) and/or Commonwealth Cancer Center (520 Techwood Dr. #100, Danville, KY 40422).
