Joanne Payne Young Obituary (1936 - 2016)

Joanne Payne Young, 79, of Stanford, KY passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born December 18, 1936 in Stanford, KY to the late John Thomas Payne and Elizabeth Pepples Payne, she was the widow of the late Curtis A. Young, and was retired from Danville KY Schools where she worked as a custodian for 17 years. She also worked as a cook at Redwood Restaurant for 9 years, and was a member of Lancaster Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include three step-sons; Curtis Young III of Stanford, KY, John D. Young of Kissimmee, FL, and David A. Young of Hustonville, KY, one step-daughter; Alice Reynolds of Danville, KY, one sister; Johnetta Payne of Stanford, KY, and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. A one day service has been scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2016 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be from 10am-2pm with funeral service beginning at 2pm. Reverends Norm Smith and Leon Thomas will officiate and interment will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers as donations to Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford to help cover funeral expenses.
