Larry Ellison

Larry “Bootsie” Ellison, 64, of Stanford, KY passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born on May 5, 1962 in Stanford to the late Raymond Ellison and the late O’Dell Roberts Ellison.

Larry spent his career as a roofer. Outside of work, Larry was happiest with a project in front of him. He had a remarkable talent for building and repairing things, especially lawn mowers, which he enjoyed working on as both a hobby and a passion. He loved spending time outdoors and found joy in creating unique handcrafted items. Whether it was building decorative windmills, making crafts, or turning used coffee cans into charming little tin men, Larry was unbelievably creative and resourceful. He had a gift for seeing potential in ordinary materials and transforming them into something special. More than anything, Larry cherished his family. He loved them deeply, and the time he spent with those he loved most brought him his greatest happiness.

Survivors include his significant other of 28 years, Phyllis Pittman; four children, Bridgett Barnett (Brad Ross), Jessica Ellison, Larry Ellison, Jr., and Sharolette Dorton (Corey Coots) four siblings, Louise Rayborn, Beulah Davis, George Ellison and Ray Ellison; nine grandchildren, Joseph Barnett, Brittknee Barnett, Brieanaa Barnett, Jerry Barnett, Nathan Eaton, Katie Ellison, September Ellison, James Beach, Clayton Harness, Kaydan Coots, Levi Dorton III, Grayson Coots, Cora Coots; and eight great-grandchildren, Maddie, Ainsely, Carter, Karson, Zoey, Jaxton, Mia and Piper.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and O’Dell Ellison; eleven siblings, Billy Gene Ellison, Bobby Ellsion, Tennie “Cub” Ellison, Roxie Howson, Lorene Ellison, James David Ellison and Alma Anderson.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. Burial will follow immediately after the service.
