Lillie Richards

Lillie Mae Richards, 89, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Born on November 27, 1935 in Elizabethtown, KY to William Gaines and Oneida Bruce Johnson Mimms. She is the widow to the late Jessie Arnold Richards.

Lillie devoted a significant part of her life to her role as a dedicated mother, a career from which she retired but never ceased to fulfill. She had a deep love for her family. Lillie's loved flowers and spending time in her garden, a testament to her loving nature. She also enjoyed traveling, experiencing the world's beauty, and creating precious memories.

Survivors include three children, James T. Atkins (Jean) of Garrard County, KY, Gladys Darlene Martin (Lanny) of Deer Park, Ohio and Janice Elaine Richards (Larry Walls) of Danville, KY; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Franklin Atkins; second husband, Jessie Arnold Richards; one daughter, Jacki Lynn Atkins; and four siblings, Ellen Mimms Lynn, Willine Reynolds, Elizabeth Helton and Doris Jean Fletcher; and two grandchildren, Chad Atkins and Fallon Hale.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Ed Wilson and Bro. Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service.
Active Pallbearers are Christopher Risner, Jeremy Martin, Jeff Simpson, Lovell Fields, Craig Griffin and Jimmy Deatherage.
