Marvin "Monk" King Obituary (1957

Marvin "Monk" King, 58, of Somerset, KY (formerly of McKinney, KY) passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Born May 20, 1957 in Geneva, KY to Emma Lee Brown King and the late James Robert "Bob" King, he was a member of the first graduating class at Lincoln County High School, and went on to become a minister of the Gospel. He was former pastor of both 910 Full Gospel Church in Casey County, KY and Love Dale Community Church in Adair County, KY and also traveled as an evangelist for the majority of his life. He loved going to church and working for the Lord and also enjoyed following U.K. Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He loved his two dogs; Spanky and Buster, and was also a member of Somerset Seven Oaks Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 19 1/2 years; Cathy Kirkpatrick King of Somerset, KY, five brothers; James Thomas "Buddy" King (Connie) of Berea, KY, Bobby King (Shelley) of Wall Town, KY, William Steve King, Ricky King (Tammy), and Johnny King (Rita) all of McKinney, KY, two sisters; Dora Sherbert (Larry) of Lexington, KY, and Virginia King of Stanford, KY, a special cousin; Sylvia Harder of Somerset, KY, and several more nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Rosie McCoy, Wanda Scott, and Teresa Griffin. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5-9pm at Geneva Community Pentecostal Church in McKinney, KY. Funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the church with Reverends David Tomlinson, Chris Taylor, and Richard Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Casket bearers will be: Dylan King, Zachary McCoy, Daniel King, Eric King, Levi King, Jason King, John King, and Daniel Kirkpatrick. Honorary bearers are: Marvin Carey, Jr., Demetrious King, Brian Tomlinson, Caleb Tomlinson, and Kaden Tomlinson. Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford is in charge of the arrangements.
