Matrie Estes Lucas Obituary (1929

Matrie Estes Lucas, 86, of Waynesburg, KY passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Stanford. Born July 17, 1929 in New Salem, KY to the late Esto and Ada Sims Wilcher Estes, she was the widow of the late William Ress Lucas. She was a member of South Fork Baptist Church where she served as the secretary and treasurer for 29 years. She was a direct descendant of Abraham Estes who was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Survivors include one son; William Steven Lucas (Sandy) of Stanford, KY, one daughter; Lisa Kay Shelton (Gary) of Waynesburg, KY, one daughter-in-law; Donna Lucas of Crab Orchard, KY, one brother; Johnny Wilcher of Danville, KY, three sisters; Susie McMahan of Waynesburg, KY, Alma Littrell of Kings Mountain, KY, and Janie Holton of Lancaster, KY, five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and three special nephews; Jackie Ray of Stanford, KY, Jimmy Ray of Waynesburg, KY, and Eddie Ray of Las Vegas, NV. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; Michael Gene Lucas, one sister; Maxine Bryant, and two brothers; Esto Estes, Jr., and Robert Wilcher. Visitation has been scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 6-9pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 10:30am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the funeral home with Reverends Robert Kiper and Curtis Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Middleburg Cemetery in Middleburg, KY. Casket bearers will be: Jackie Ray, Jimmy Ray, Eddie Ray, Shane Cook, Grant Lucas, and Matt Wilson.
