Richard “Tob” Long, 86, of Stanford, KY passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born on February 24, 1939 in Hubble, KY to the late Albert and Norma Baker Long.
Tob was a lifetime dairy farmer who began his journey in 1962. He was a strong, patient, and kind-hearted individual, who poured his love into everything he did. Tob was well liked and respected, who showed strength in his character and from his life of farming. He won the haybale throwing contest in his younger years at Hustonville Days. His love for the land was only surpassed by his love for his wife and his nieces and nephews. Tob’s kind and patient nature made him a beloved figure, not just within his family, but in the Stanford community. He was a resilient man, who persevered through his battle against esophageal cancer, the after-effects of which he managed with grace for 25 years. Beyond farming, Tob enjoyed woodworking, mushroom hunting and restoring old cars - a passion beautifully exemplified by his prized '57 and '52 Chevys. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Ann Cochran Long; special nieces, Kala Cartmill and Karmin Davis; and special grandnephews, Jackson Davis and Mason Davis; many more special nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Vena Long and Phyllis Long.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Norma Long; one daughter, Cynthia Lynne Long; and one sister, Brenda Sue Taylor; three brothers, Clark Long, Johnny Long and David Long; one brother-in-law, Denton Taylor; and one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Long.
