Rita Coulter

Rita F. Coulter, 82, of Harrodsburg, KY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Born on October 25, 1943 in Lancaster to the late Leslie Barker and the late Mamie Ross Barker.

Rita was a devoted woman of faith whose love for Jesus was at the center of her life. She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and also attended Carpenter’s Christian Church. For many years, she faithfully taught youth Sunday School at Stanford Baptist Church, sharing her faith and helping guide young people in their walk with Christ. Throughout the years, Rita was also actively involved in the life of the church, serving on numerous committees, including pastor search committees, and participating in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).

Above all, Rita loved her family dearly and was the one who helped hold everyone together. Her family was incredibly important to her, but her greatest love was for Jesus. Her faith was evident in the way she lived, served others, and cared for those around her.
In her free time, Rita enjoyed reading and spending time with friends. She especially treasured opportunities to gather together, visit, and enjoy the company of those she loved.

Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob” Coulter; two daughters, Michelle Landers (Barry Howard) of Lancaster, KY and Lezli Mattingly (Chris) of Lexington, KY; three siblings, Sonny Barker (Sarah), Betty Pingleton and Barbara Barker; four grandchildren, Kathryn Plymale (Erik), Matthew Blair, Michael “Trey” Edwards, and Emma Aiken (Marshal); five great-grandchildren, Easton Blair, Jace Blair, Asa Plymale, Esther Plymale and Reagan Plymale; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Mamie Barker; four sisters, Geneva Vanarsdal, Pauline Bolton, Valerie McMullen and Shirley Daly; and one granddaughter, Hannah Landers.

Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Carpenter’s Christian Church in Harrodsburg, KY. A second visitation will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at The Carpenter’s Christian Church with Bro. John Kesel and Pastor Greg Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster, Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Kathryn Plymale, Erik Plymale, Matthew Blair, Michael “Trey” Edwards, Emma Aiken, Marshal Aiken, Easton Blair and Asa Plymale.

Honorary Pallbearers are Doug Long, Janet Long, Larry Woolums, Sue Woolums, Larry Lance and Linda Lance.
