Sharlene Faye Griffin Obituary (1943 - 2016)

Sharlene Faye Griffin, 72, of Hustonville, KY passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born July 6, 1943 in New Salem, KY to the late William and Juey Leeper Tinsley, she was the widow of the late Jim Griffin. She worked as a factory worker at American Greetings for most of her life and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons; Blaine Tinsley (Ron Burgen) of Danville, KY, Marlon Tinsley, and Mike Griffin both of McKinney, KY, one daughter; Yvonne Smith of McKinney, KY, two brothers; Denver Tinsley (Doris) of Fairfield, OH, and Darrell Tinsley (Frankie) of Hamilton, OH, her twin sister; Harlene Johnson of McKinney, KY, five grandchildren; Allison Rice, Ricky Simmerman (Shanna Gullett), Brooke Simmerman, Cheyeanna Tinsley, and Chelesa Tinsley, six great-grandchildren; Cayleb, Aidan, Christian Rice, Kaitlin, Andrew, and Elle Simmerman, and several nieces and nephews. She was like a second mother to her twin sisters children and grandchildren; Maynard Hoskins (Anna Mae), Sharlot Brown (Randy, Kerry Hoskins (Sarah), Bernie Hoskins (Sarah), and Bernie Hoskins (Tammy) all of McKinney, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 5-9pm at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Funeral service will be 1pm Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at New Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Lewis Walter officiating with interment following at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. Casket bearers are: Ricky Simmerman, Maynard Hoskins, Kerry Hoskins, Burnie Hoskins, Russell Gipson, and Bill Tinsley. Honorary bearers will be: Joseph Brown, Daniel Brown, Keith Tinsley, Justin Hoskins, Jason Hoskins, Lionel Reed, Mark Reed, and Randy Brown. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to New Salem Baptist Church.
