William G. "Jerry" McLaren Obituary (1947 - 2025)

William G. "Jerry" McLaren, also known as, Red Dog, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. Born on May 16, 1947 to the late Harold and Thelma Singleton McLaren. Jerry was a member of the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He enjoyed shooting guns, fishing, riding motorcycles and music. He was Vice President of the motorcycle club, ABATE, and was also a member of the band, "The Fillins", where he played bass guitar. Survivors include his wife, Linda Mefford McLaren of Columbia, KY; four children, Tammy Oberschlake (Thomas) of Bethel, Ohio, Stacey McKeehen (Jeff) of Columbia, Tracey McLaren of Covington, KY and Beverly Baker of Covington; one brother, Harold McLaren (Patsy) of Stanford, KY; and eight grandchildren, Nikkia Agrue (Ricky), Natalie Mahorney (Ryan), Austin McKeehen; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Noah and Henry. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thelma McLaren; and two sons, Jerry McLaren and Chuck Black. A celebration of life will be held on July 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the residence of Linda McLaren in Columbia, KY.
